I paid a $1000 retainer and this lawyer booked more than $3000 (triple my retainer!) worth of hours over a 6-month period before sending me a billing statement. When I questioned him why he filed an unnecessary motion with the court and why he didn't notify me when my retainer was depleted, he withdrew from representation. He dropped my case without un-doing the motion that I didn't want him to file in the first place.
